Groundwater Software Diver-Pocket The Diver-Pocket groundwater monitoring software package is used for programming and reading information from groundwater Diver dataloggers.
Diver-Pocket (formally known as Pocket-Diver) is a dedicated PocketPC solution that enables you to conveniently program Divers, read measurements, and manage your data right in the field.
Diver-Pocket allows you to export the data for further processing by other programs.
Diver-Pocket is available in two variants, namely;
Diver-Pocket Reader: This variant only allows you to read data; Divers cannot be stopped, calibrated or programmed.
Diver-Pocket Manager: In addition to being able to read data, this variant also includes the Diver programming facility which allows you to calibrate CTD-Divers, start and stop Divers, define pumping test, etc.
Use Diver-Pocket for reading and viewing Diver data. Diver-Pocket Manager allows you to adjust critical settings: location, sample method, sample rate, and altitude.
Location - Assign unique names for each Diver location. The Diver location works as an identifier used as part of the filename for exporting data
Sample Method and Sample Rate – Conveniently choose from the following sample methods:
Fixed - A fixed sample method will acquire and store data at regular time intervals.
Event-based – Let Divers automatically compare each sample to the last stored sample and calculate a difference. A new sample is only stored when the difference exceeds a specified percentage from the last stored sample
Pumping Tests – Available for Divers that support this feature. Diver-Pocket includes three convenient predefined pumping tests. You can also define and program your own pumping tests in a few steps.
Altitude – Simply specify the altitude above sea level for the location of the Diver.
Smart Future Start (SFS)
The Smart Future Start option provides optimal use of Diver memory, download speeds and data management. Simply synchronize the SFS feature with the PocketPC clock by checking the Sync Clock box. The SFS option is a useful tool in situations where you want to stop the Diver, download its data, and then continue collecting data at the specified sample interval. This option allows you to download data in continuous segments, while maintaining a consistent sample interval.
Managing Diver Data
Every Diver download is saved to the database as a time series and backup of the data is stored on the PocketPC. View a plot of the time series you just downloaded on your PocketPC. Select one or several time series and export the time series to the desired format (CSV or MON).
Transferring your data to a PC
You can easily transfer data from the PocketPC to your PC by simply connecting the PocketPC and using Microsoft ActiveSync.
CTD-Diver Calibration
Ensure accuracy and reliability. Diver-Pocket features the ability to calibrate the ceramic CTD-Divers as well as retrieve the calibration history from the CTD-Diver. This feature is useful for monitoring changes in calibration over time which may aid in explaining significant variations or anomalies in data.
Microsoft ActiveSync 3.6 or later must be installed (comes with PocketPC)
PocketPC (PDA) Requirements:
Windows Mobile 2003 or Windows Mobile Version 5.0
XScale or StrongArm Processor
PocketPC is compatible with USB Host CF Card or RS232 CF Card (both RATOC Systems Inc.)
64 MB of RAM or more
Wireless Requirements:
Diver-DXD wireless data transceiver dongle
Diver-DXT data transceiver
Diver-Pocket has been tested on the following PocketPC’s:
Archer Ultra-Rugged PDA
Dell X50 416MHz Windows Mobile 2003 2nd edition
HP iPAQ 2110 312MHz Windows Mobile 2003 2nd edition
Dell X51 520MHz Windows Mobile 5
Dell X51v 624MHz Windows Mobile 5
HP iPAQ 2490 520MHz Windows Mobile 5
HP iPAQ 2790 624MHz Windows Mobile 5 with a USB and RS232 reading unit (and both CF cards)
Installation Of The RATOC CF Card
Your Pocket-PC requires a USB Host CF Card so that it can operate with the USB Diver Reading Unit. SWS does not provide this hardware or the drivers with the Diver-Pocket software package. The following guide is intended to help you with the installation.
If you have installed the wrong driver, please remove it from your PDA before you proceed with the installation. To remove a driver, follow the steps below:
Disconnect the RATOC card from the PDA
Go to Start - Settings - System - Remove Programs
Select "RATOC..."
Tap Remove
Driver Installation Guide for RATOC Card
Disconnect the RATOC card from the PDA.
Ensure that the PocketPC is in its cradle, and the cradle is connected to the computer
Ensure that ActiveSync is enabled.
Please go to RATOC's website and download the appropriate CF card driver. The download and install instructions are described below.
Instructions are described below for both the CFU1U
and CFU2 USB Host CF Card.
Select a destination folder, and then select [OK] to extract the driver files
Once the files have been extracted, open the destination folder
For the current version (Rev.1.1), run the setup.exe in the “CFU2Driver\CFU2_REV11\HostDriver” folder
Verification
If the installation was successful, you will not receive a message when you connect the RATOC card to the PDA. After you finish the installation of RATOC card driver, please proceed to install the Pocket-Diver setup file.
